01ST Day -COLOMBO AIRPORT– NEGOMBO- CHILLAW MANAWARI CHILAW PUTTLAM ANURADHAPURA
After a warm welcome at the airport with garland leaving for Anuradhapura.
Enroute visit Chillaw 3 star Hotel for preparation for worshipping.
Breakfast and visiting Silaba Munni Eswar Temple, Chillaw .and After visiting Munneswaran Temple proceeding to Manawari Temple and back to the hotel for lunch. After lunch proceeding toAnuradhapura and check in to the Hotel and evening visiting Sri Maha Bodhi the sacred BO tree and back to the hotel for dinner and over night stay.
CITY OF ANURADHAPURA
Sri Lanka’s premier ancient city Anuradhapura, in the dry zone, is the first Sinhalese capital of Sri Lanka9then Ceylon) its distance from Colombo is 206Km.
The sacred Bo tree, the seated Samadhi statue of the meditating Buddha, Kuttam pokuna(twin pond) Manu temples and Isurumuniya are some of the attractions in Anuradhapura. There is an abundance of evidence of ancient architecture dating to third century BC and earlier. There are 08 major and main places of worship available in Anuradhapura too.
02ND Day –ANURADHAPURA- MEDAWACHCHIYA- MANNAR- TALAIMANNAR- MANNAR- PUNAGIRI- SANGUPITY-JAFFNA
After breakfast leaving for Jaffna, enroute visit Thalimanner Thirumuthumaiamman Temple aand back to Manner Thirukoneswaran Temple and Lunch at good restaurant.. After lunch enroute Punagiri, Sangupity and reaching Jaffna in the afternoon. After reaching Jaffna heading for Nagadeepa and visiting Nagadeepa ( Naguleshwara Durga Temple) incidentally Thellittai Nayana Devi Temple, Kandasamy Kovil, Perumal Temple, Navalar Manimandapam and Karainaggar Shivam Kovil and stay overnight in a star class hotel in Jaffna.
CITY OF JAFFNA
Palmyra palm trees are grown here and stand against the dry climate producing their characteristic red skinned fruits. All parts of this tree are used, such as the coconut tree in other parts of the island. The Palmyra tree symbolizes the North.
Out of six islands Kayts, Mandativu and Pundkuduthivu are joined to each other and with the peninsula by long causeways.
Mammenheil Fort is between Kayts and Karaitivu Island. Boat services are available from Punkudutivu to Nainativu and Delft. Karaitivu Island is joined to the main island by a causeway. Karainaggar town is here and the popular beach Casuarina is at the North.
03RD Day – JAFFNA- KILINOCHCHI- VAVUNIYA- HOROWPATHANA- TRINCOMALEE
Afetr breakfast leaving Trincomalee, enroute via Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Horowpathana reaching Trinco. Lunch at a hotel in Trincomalee. After lunch enroute to Kinya to visit hot water wells – evening visit Shive Temple Adhi koneswaram and stay over night in Trinco at a 4 star hotel.
CITY OF TRINCOMALEE
296Km from Colombo city, Trincomalee harbor is one of the world’s best natural harbor which could provide ample space for ships and tankers. The water area is little more than 2000 hectares. Prima wheat factory and Petroleum (China bay) tanks smoothly use this harbor. Trinco town is dedicated to protect Deer and you can see them freely moving along the road. FORT FREDRICK during the Dutch period it was a military fortress. Built by the Portuguese, from here you can have a good view of the harbor entrance.
KONESWARAM KOVIL- Hindu temple inside Fort Fredrick .Visitors and Hindu devotees visit the kovil. Also in the vicinity is the lover’s leap, which is next to the corner. From this point a Dutch officer’s daughter leaped to her death.
04TH Day – TRINCOMALEE- HABARANA- DAMBULLA- MATALE- KANDY
After breakfast leaving for Kandy, enroute visit Habarana , Dambulla Rock Temple, Aluvihara Temple Matale, reaching Kandy- lunch at a restaurant – evening visiting Kandy sacred Tooth Temple and Shiva temple and back to hotel for dinner and stay overnight at a star class hotel in Kandy.
CITY OF KANDY
The name Kandy is a version of Kanda Uda Rata (the county over the mountains). In Sinhala it is called Maha Nuwara which means the great city. It was also known as Senkadagala.
Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe the last king of Sri Lanka, was taken captive by the British forces in 1815, and deported to Vellore in south India where he died in 1832.
The Sri Dalada Maligawa, which enshrined the tooth relic of the Buddha, is the holiest shrine in the Buddhist world and to the Buddhist people of Sri Lanka. According to history, the tooth relic was brought to Sri Lanka in the region of King Keerthi Sri Meghawarna (301-328) in Anuradhapura, by princess Hemamali of Kalinga India.
Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Temple of the Sacred Relic of the Buddha is the main attraction. Its architecture, decorative walls, golden roof and the fine wood work is vivid. Visitors can view the daily pooja (religious service) in the morning, mid day and in the evening.
05TH Day – KANDY- GAMPOLA- RAMBODA –NUWARA ELIYA
After breakfast leaving for Nuwara Eliya. Enroute visiting Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple on the hills of Ramboda where Hanuman was searching for sitadevi. Labukelle Tea Research Centre visiting Asoka Vatika – which was paradise on earth. To date no vegetation grows on the passage except grass. King Ravana is beheaded to have taken the passage on top of these hills to show Sitadevi the beauty of the kingdom. Visiting Mani kaththur, this is a rock in Labukelle estate where Lord Hanuman met Sitadevi, then on his way to announce the happy information to Lord Rama, rested on the hill top.
CITY OF NUWARA ELIYA
Nuwara Eliya is Sri Lankan picturesque hill resorts about 1890 meters above sea level,
It is renowned for its perennial spring like climate and carpet of lush green tea. Visit one of Asia’s finest golf courses and the Haggala botanical gardens famous for its superb collection of roses and the rare fernery. You visit to Nuwara Eliya you should be best combined with the famous tea estates and factories.
LEGEND – a temple for the Lord Rama, Sitadevi, Luxshmanna and Hanumanna built on the sides of the stream where Sitadevi bathed.
06TH Day – NUWARA ELIYA – WELIMADA- BANDARAWELA- ELLA- WELLAWAYA –TISSAMAHARAMA –KATARAGAMA
Leaving after breakfast – enroute visiting Divurampola Temple at Keppitipola , Ravana cave ( extremely difficult access by foot to cave entrances) but can be seen at a distance. Ravana Falls and reaching Tissamaharama. Lunch at star class hotel at Tissa. Evening leave for Kataragama Sri Murga kovil , Kirivehera Temple and back to hotel for dinner and stay overnight.
CITY OF KATARAGAMA
Kataragama is another great pilgrim shrine, which is dedicated to Skanda, popular Hindu deity. The main festival is in July/ august the perahera consist of low -country and up- country dances, elephants, drums, and chieftains. Daily pooja conducted in the mornings and evenings. Large crowds participate in these pooja with fresh fruit baskets, flowers and incense to make and fulfill vows. Buddhists, Muslims and Hindus all visit Kataragama. Delvalas and mosques are in one sacred area.
07TH Day – TISSAMAHARAMA- HAMBANTOTA- USSANGODA-TANGALLE-MATARA – UNAWATUNA- GALLE – HIKKADUWA- SEENIGAMA-BENTOTA-COLOMBO AND AIRPORT
Leaving after breakfast for Colombo enroute visiting Hambantota salten, new harbor, Ussangoda , Tangalle visiting Matara Kali Temple. Roomassagala the place (sanjeewani drop) during the war both Lord Rama and Laxshmanna were hit by powerful arrow, felt unconscious and to bring them back to life , Lord Hanumanna was instructed. Proceeding to Hikkaduwa for lunch in a star class restaurant. Enjoy the lunch and glass bottom boat and visiting the Seenigama kovil one of the ancient temples. Thereafter heading for Colombo, and having dinner at good restaurant’ after the dinner
leaving to International airport with sweet memories of the best known “Wonder of Asia”.
